New noise control project in Munich

The Jutierhalle and the Tonnenhalle from 1926 are to become the centrepiece of the creative quarter on Leonrodplatz.

Theatre, design, architecture and media professionals will find a home in the listed buildings after the renovation.

However, the structure of the barrel hall has suffered greatly over the years. The self-supporting reinforced concrete structure is no longer stable. Before the delicate concrete components are reconstructed, they are prepared by blasting. After completion, artists will be given space on three levels to present their creativity in an appealing setting.

To ensure stability until the renovation work is completed, the hall is stabilised with support scaffolding from Schäfer Gerüstbau. The loose concrete parts are blasted away, and the corrosion of the reinforcing bars is removed. Such work is very noisy. Cisilent type L was installed on the façade scaffolding to minimise noise pollution for neighbours during the construction period. An additional tarpaulin protects Cisilent type L against rebounding blasting material. Work on the first section has now been completed and the noise reduction measures have met expectations.
